CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Local developer Crescent Communities appears to be teeing up a large new multifamily development in south Charlotte.

This week, the firm filed a rezoning petition called Novel Ballantyne for a 19-acre site near the intersection of Johnston and Marvin roads, which Novant Health acquired in 2018 for $15.7 million. The land is behind Grace Christian Center and next to Bexley Crossing at Providence, in the Ballantyne West area.
The rezoning petition calls for up to 455 residential units, including apartments and townhouses, according to a site plan filed with the document.
