CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte City Council is hiring Peter Baker to serve as city attorney.
The hiring was unanimously approved by the council Monday night.

Baker is currently the city attorney for the city of Durham.
“I’m honored and humbled to begin this new journey,” Baker said in a news release. “I’d like to thank the City Council for their confidence in my abilities, and I look forward to calling Charlotte home.”
Baker will be paid $254,000 and will start in March.

“Patrick’s diverse skill set, effective counsel and collaborative approach to leadership will benefit our entire city,” Mayor Vi Lyles said in a news release. “We welcome Patrick and his family to Team Charlotte.”
