CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A south Charlotte church just wrapped up an event to help fight the worldwide blood shortage.
The World Mission Society Church of God held a community blood drive Sunday to help people in need.
It was actually part of a global effort, with similar drives held at churches in more than 150 countries.
Church members said it's a cause that's important to them.
Thirty-five people donated blood. With every donation helping three people, the donations have the potential to save more than 100 lives.
