CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte Christmas tradition for many changed this year.
The Christmas Village is back open but has moved to a new location, on 7th Street and North Tryon Street in uptown.
One of the reasons the Christmas Village switched locations is because now it is in a parking lot so people don’t have to worry about a muddy mess with in the grass when it rains.
This is the third year for the Charlotte Christmas Village, a free event that features food, beer, shopping and children's activities.
Another perk of having it in that spot in uptown Charlotte is that there are more parking options and it is also a short walk from the light rail.
There aren’t a lot of retail options in uptown Charlotte, but organizers say this helps fill that void for visitors and workers of Center City.
“To see people making plans on social media, saying we can’t wait to come back, asking, ‘Hey, what’s new this year?’ Making plans with friends online, that’s great,” said Dena Bruton-Claus, with the Charlotte Christmas Village.
The festival runs until Christmas Eve and will be open every day except Mondays.
