CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte Checkers took to the ice to raise awareness of breast cancer.
Saturday was the 14th annual Pink in the Rink event with Novant Health.

“We have so much to celebrate and being a part of being a survivor with my survivor sisters and seeing all the pink and everybody celebrate is just the greatest night,” said Cindy Summer, with Cindy’s Hope Chest.
Checkers players wore specialty pink jerseys during their game against the Springfield Thunderbirds.
The jerseys were actioned off to raise money for breast cancer awareness.
The Checkers raised more than $32,000.
