A lot has happened since the team’s last full season ended in 2019, when they also won the Calder Cup.
The Checkers opted out of the 2020-21 American Hockey League season because of coronavirus concerns. Last September, they announced they were ending their AHL affiliation with the Carolina Hurricanes and signing a multi-year arrangement with the Florida Panthers.
