CHARLOTTE — A police report says the principal at Charlotte Catholic High School informed the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Tuesday that a school staff member was fired over inappropriate text messages.
The report does not identify the staff member. It says the recipients of the messages were two students who are 16 and 17 years old.
The firing comes as schools across the country are watching more carefully for inappropriate contact between staff and students. The report suggests the principal moved quickly once he learned of the allegations.
Parents who spoke with Channel 9 Wednesday said they hadn't heard about the incident, but weren't surprised about the way it was handled.
"They’re very prompt in taking care of things that are untoward. They do a great job with the discipline in this school," said Cassandra Popoola.
Police investigated the incident and decided not to press charges.
