CHARLOTTE — There are a lot of ways to celebrate Black History Month, but perhaps none are more tasty than one happening this weekend.

Not only will the food be good -- so is the cause.

The second annual “History and Homage” event will be a culinary celebration of Black History Month held at the Community Matters Cafe in uptown Charlotte.

“It’s really a get together -- back to our namesake in the community -- to really give highlight and the flowers to chefs, restaurateurs, and just overall culture of the past, that kind of brought us to where we are today,” Chayil Johnson, the chef de cuisine told Channel 9.

The cafe is an extension of the Charlotte Rescue Mission, which provides free addiction recovery services.
