Charlotte awards $1.5 million in grants to local nonprofits

CHARLOTTE — The city of Charlotte awarded nearly $1.5 million dollars in grants to six local nonprofits to help uplift our neighbors hit hardest by the pandemic.

The Urban League of Central Carolinas will receive $250,000, which will be used to offer free courses in the community.

“The funding will help expand our current Career Bridge Program, which is certifications in various industries like information technology, allied health and also skilled trades,” said Teddy McDaniel, Urban League of Central Carolinas. “We just opened our Digital Innovation Center in east Charlotte in August and this will allow us to expand our career bridge programs in that area as well.”
