CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte 49ers and Appalachian State Mountaineers will kick off the football season this year in the heart of the Queen City.
The Charlotte Sports Foundation said on Monday that App State vs. Charlotte will take place on Friday, Aug. 29 at Bank of America Stadium in the Duke’s Mayo Classic.
An exact time and TV network will be announced later.
The teams have only met three times, with App State taking all three games. They last faced in 2020.
Both teams will go into the season opener with new head coaches. Charlotte hired Tim Albin while App State hired Dowell Loggains.
