CHARLOTTE, N.C. — In early September, after seven years as a Channel 9 reporter, Jason Stoogenke is taking over the role of Action 9 reporter for WSOC-TV.
Stoogenke has been reporting on Charlotte-Mecklenburg civic and government issues, as well as the impact these have on the community, and is excited about this new challenge.
"Don Griffin has certainly left a legacy in the Charlotte market. I look forward to carrying on his tradition of serving our viewers with impactful consumer investigative stories," Stoogenke said.
WSOC-TV Vice President and General Manager Joe Pomilla said Stoogenke is "a natural fit" for this role because of his experience and expertise.
"Jason is a solid reporter who's not afraid to ask tough questions and demand answers. Just like Don Griffin has done, he'll get to the bottom of viewers' consumer complaints," Pomilla said.
WSOC-TV News Director Julie Szulczewski said Stoogenke has strong leadership skills and expressed interest in consumer-based stories years ago.
"Jason is passionate about helping people solve their problems, so when the opportunity to lead our Action 9 efforts became available, Jason was eager to get involved," she said.
In addition to his reporting skills, Stoogenke received a law degree from the University of Maryland.
