FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The United States National Guard is on standby in Fayetteville as more rain falls from Florence – and Channel 9 reporter Joe Bruno has been invited to tag along with them.
While the National Guard waits to see if it will be needed for any rescue missions, Guardsmen are helping in the community.
The National Guard is continuing to assist Red Cross, evacuees and first responders by providing resources to shelters.
The National Guard delivered three military vehicles worth of cases of water and meals to Cape Fear High School. In addition to serving as a shelter for evacuees, the high school is sheltering first responders from across the country. Firefighters from Delaware helped unload the vehicles once the National Guard arrived.
Watch the video above to hear about the positive impact the National Guard is making on those affected by Hurricane Florence.
