CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Channel 9 wants to continue the conversation about race, cultural differences and police reform. We will be speaking with experts and leaders to learn more about how the Carolinas can become more inclusive.
[RESOURCE GUIDE: Talking About Race]
Janine Davis, of V101.9 Radio, is on a special assignment and has already introduced us to Officer Jasmine Nivens with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Nivens is working hard to bridge the divide between police and protesters.
“I understand, however, their frustration,” Nivens said. “People who don’t like police don’t know the person behind the badge, the person wearing the uniform. So, my family, they know me. They know my heart and that I go out there and do the very best I can and that I treat all people with respect.”
>> Nivens, Davis and others will continue the conversation during “Talking About Race and Police Reform” that will air Wednesday at 7 p.m. on Channel 9.
