CATS hosts hiring event for new bus drivers

CHARLOTTE — Charlotte Area Transportation is ramping up efforts to hire new bus drivers.

The company held a hiring event off Independence Boulevard Saturday morning in the Ovens Auditorium parking lot.

They held on-site interviews, handed out free food, and gave away a bus pass to everyone who attended for a free ride back to the Charlotte transit center.

“Once you get hired, you have 7 weeks of training, 5 weeks of classroom, learning policies and procedures, we do have a union contract, learning all about that, then the last two weeks, your actually driving routes with a mentor,” Reginald Arrington, the CATS Assistant General Manager and Director of bus operations said.
