CATAWBA, N.C. — Catawba Sheriff’s deputies have made an arrest in what they deemed a suspicious death investigation west of Newton.
The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office said they’ve charged Richard Barber with concealment of a death.
Investigators said they went to a home on Springdale Drive Sunday to do a welfare check and found a woman who had been dead for several days inside the home.
Deputies said Barber also lived at the home but didn’t tell authorities about the death.
Officers are waiting on autopsy results to determine the woman’s cause of death.
