CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The emergency department at Carolinas Medical Center was placed on restricted access Saturday morning because of a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police investigation, hospital officials said.

The emergency room is still open to those in need of emergency medical care, and hospital staff are working to assist those in need.

Officials do not know how long the restricted access period will last.

CMPD confirmed to Channel 9 that they are investigating a shooting after a person was driven around 11:45 a.m. to CMC-Main and pronounced deceased.
