ROCK HILL, S.C. — Site preparation continues on the Carolina Panthers’ new headquarters in Rock Hill, with portions of the project shifting from clearing to construction.

Notable progress has been made on what the team has dubbed “The Rock.” But crews at the site fell behind because of disruptions caused by the pandemic and a rainy winter, Hart said. Other challenges surfaced, too — below the surface, that is.
“We’re moving a lot of dirt around,” Hart told the Charlotte Business Journal. “We started drilling deep foundations. Very appropriate to the city of Rock Hill, we hit a lot of rock. A lot of blue granite. That blue granite is damn hard.”
