CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Carolina Panthers have a deal to buy Waterford Golf Club, which is just 4 miles away from the site of the NFL franchise’s planned, $200 million headquarters and training facility in Rock Hill that will soon start development.

Mark Hart, Panthers COO and vice president, told city officials on Friday that the team has a deal to buy the golf course. The Herald in Rock Hill first reported the news. Rock Hill government officials confirmed to the Charlotte Business Journal that Hart told them the Waterford deal is pending.
The courses would be used by the team but would also be open to public play, sources in Rock Hill have said.
