A South Carolina highway had to be shut down for hours Monday afternoon after officials said a car and a dump truck crashed head-on before catching fire.
A woman died in the wreck.
The crash happened at about 2:30 p.m. on Highway 5 near Cureton Ferry Road in York County, which is about 10 miles southeast of Rock Hill.
A four-door sedan drove into the oncoming lane that the dump truck was in and hit it head-on, troopers said.
The driver of that car, 44-year-old Tanya Bryson of Rock Hill, died at the scene.
The driver of the dump truck was not hurt.
From Chopper 9 Skyzoom, dozens of first responders could be seen around the charred vehicles.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Coroner’s Office are investigating.
