Cam Newton appears on 'The $100,000 Pyramid' on ABC

Panthers quarterback Cam Newton took part in a competition off the field this offseason.

He was a contestant on “The $100,000 Pyramid" Sunday on Channel 9.

The hit summer show, which is hosted by former NFL star Michael Strahan, features an all-star cast of celebrities who partner with contestants to compete against each other in a race of word association with the hopes of making it to the winners' circle and capturing the ultimate prize of $100,000.

The show, which is in its second season, averaged 7 million viewers in its first season in 2016. It was first developed in the 1970s.

Newton went up against New York Giants linebacker Brandon Marshall. Tennessee Titans wide receiver Eric Decker went up against Olympic gold medal speed skater Apolo Ohno on the same episode.

“The $100,000 Pyramid” season lineup includes other NFL stars, including Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller.

Last month, Newton held his annual "Kicking It With Cam" kickball tournament in Charlotte to raise money for children.
