CONCORD, N.C. — The Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office hosted a public open house on Saturday to show the community around their facilities.
Officials showed people the holding cells, communications center and more. The department’s specialty teams were also out, which included the SWAT team, drone team and bomb unit.
The sheriff’s office told Channel 9 the open house was held in response to community feedback as people were curious to see how they operate.
“We got together internally to talk about what could we do to get the community involved in law enforcement, to see where their tax dollars are going to pay for,” said Chief Deputy James Bailey. “So we decided on an open house, open the doors to the agency. Let them meet the officers let them see where their tax dollars are going, let them see what equipment we use everyday.”
The department also said holding the open house helps building trust with the community.
