GRANITE FALLS, N.C. — A boil water advisory issued Friday after a water line broke in Caldwell County has been lifted.
Highway 321 was shut down near Granite Falls and several businesses had to close because of what officials called a “significant water line break.” A boil water advisory was put into effect as a precautionary measure, city officials said.

Town officials gave notice about the water line break around 3 p.m. Friday. The break was along Highway 321 northbound near Glen Ridge Drive.
The town said there was a “substantial loss of water” in the water system. They asked people to reduce water use wherever possible, including limiting lawn irrigation and avoiding washing your car. Officials also urged citizens to not flush toilets or use water from hot water heaters until the water supply is fully restored.
Channel 9′s Dave Faherty learned that at least one restaurant had to close for the day because of the water line break.
On Sunday, the advisory was lifted for all communities in Granite Falls except for residents in the Riverbend Community. A second water main break Saturday specifically affected the Riverbend Community.
On Monday, the advisory was lifted for the Riverbend Community.
