Businesses in downtown Gastonia cast hopeful eye on new development

GASTONIA, N.C. — The formal groundbreaking isn’t happening for more than a week, but construction is already ramping up at the site of an apartment development in downtown Gastonia.

And businesses in the area are already hopeful the project will bring momentum to the renaissance that’s going on there, according to a report Thursday morning from the Gaston Gazette.

As CBJ reported in the fall of 2020, when the land sale and development agreement for the project were up for approval, Center City Crossings will bring 90 apartments to a six-story building at 147 W. Main Ave. Kuester Commercial Real Estate, based in Fort Mill, is behind the development.
