Burke Co. woman’s ‘pipe dream’ comes true after winning $110K lottery ticket

BURKE COUNTY, N.C. — A Burke County woman’s dreams came true after she won Tuesday’s Cash 5 jackpot of $110,000.

“You spend a couple of dollars and it’s a pipe dream,” said winner Sharon Cline. “But then it happens, and it is surreal. I said to my husband the next morning, ‘Did I dream that last night or did it really happen?’”

On Wednesday, Cline said she went back to the Hildebran Shell on Old N.C. 10 and found out the store sold the winning Cash 5 ticket. She said she checked and realized she had won.

“I thought, ‘Oh, my,’” Cline said, “just utter shock.”

Cline took home $77,825 after required state and federal tax withholdings.

Cline said she plans to help people out with the money she won.

“It will benefit people who are in need," Cline said.
