Carrboro police announced Friday that the nonprofit Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. donated new bullet and stab protective vests to three of the department's K9 officers.
Each vest was stitched with the saying "In memory of Officer Jordan Sheldon, Mooresville, NC-EOW 5/4/19."
Sheldon, 32, was shot and killed after pulling over 28-year-old Michael Aldana in May.
He was a six-year department veteran and was also one of the department's K9 officers. He and his dog, Ramon, were on duty when the officer was killed. He was well-known and his death was deeply felt in the community.
