CHARLOTTE — Both sides of Brookshire Freeway were closed for over two hours Friday morning due to a medical emergency, according to MEDIC and CMPD.
CMPD said the freeway was closed between Caldwell Street and Davidson Street as officers de-escalated a situation with a suicidal person on the bridge that passes over the freeway.
All traffic was directed onto 11th and 12th Street.
Any drivers heading to uptown Charlotte from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. experienced heavy delays.
UPDATE: Here's a look at the intense police & medic presence on the Caldwell St. bridge over I-277 where @MecklenburgEMS says they are dealing with a medical emergency. Stay far away from this area to give them plenty of room! #clt #cltraffic #clttraffic pic.twitter.com/F2MAMFzkR1
