CHARLOTTE, N.C. — WSOC-TV announced Wednesday that Brittney Johnson will officially become Channel 9’s morning co-anchor.
Johnson will join the team of John Paul, Blaine Tolison, meteorologist Keith Monday and Traffic Team 9’s Mark Taylor. She will co-anchor Eyewitness News Daybreak on Channel 9 and Eyewitness News This Morning on TV64.
Johnson joined the Channel 9 news team as a reporter in March 2015 and most recently has been anchoring the weekend morning news.
Johnson is also a proud graduate of West Charlotte High School. Before returning to her home state, she was a reporter and anchor at KARK in Little Rock, Arkansas, and Monroe, Louisiana.
A graduate of Howard University, Johnson furthered her studies at the University of California at Berkeley, where she earned a master's degree in journalism. During her time at Berkeley, she also worked as a health fellowship at The Washington Post and traveled overseas to report on health issues in rural India.
Throughout her career, Johnson’s reporting has garnered an Emmy nomination and recognition from community groups and the Associated Press.
Johnson is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. and the National Association of Black Journalists.
