HUNTERSVILLE, NC — A doorbell camera in a neighborhood near Lake Norman shows a woman walk right up to a porch with no disguise to steal a package.

It happened in Huntersville's Arbormere neighborhood Tuesday. The woman stopped in a black Lexus at 2:40 p.m., walked up the driveway, stepped over a planter, and then swooped in - grabbing a box and covering it with a sweater.

"Pretty nuts that somebody will come in broad daylight and just kind of take your package right off your front steps," said A.J. Correia who lives right across the street.

The video was posted on the community's Facebook page.

"We're taking screen shots, and everybody is chiming in with what kind of car she had. Her tattoos," said Correia.

Most neighbors with the doorbell camera get an alert when someone shows up at their doorstep.

The homeowner in this case, Ellen Alvarado, knew when the box containing her exercise equipment showed up and then again when the woman took it.

She told Channel 9 she can't stop thinking about the woman in her video.

"It's kind of an image that burns into your mind. You just don't, you can't get rid of it right?" she explained.

She called police, who now have images of a car, an almost crystal-clear view of the woman's face, and her tattoos.

Neighbors are considering picking up packages for one another or getting package lockers.

"To think that you have to do that nowadays. It's unsettling because you should be able to get packages to your house," said Correia.

Neighbors said that they've heard from police and they may actually know who this woman is, and that the video might be the evidence they need to finally catch her.
