CHARLOTTE — Loaves and Fishes food pantry and the nonprofit Promising Pages have partnered to provide families books to take home to their children.
There are about 60,000 children in the Charlotte area that have few, if any, books in their homes, according to data from Unite for Literacy.

“We do have libraries in the area, but with the schools closed and a lot of the virtual learning going, children on may not have had a chance to get a book,” said Wanda Kerns, of Loaves and Fishes.
