ASHEBORO, N.C. — The North Carolina Zoo was forced to close Monday morning due to a bomb threat, deputies said.
In a tweet around 11 a.m., zoo officials said they were closing immediately while law enforcement investigated.

According to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, there was a bomb threat at the zoo around 10:45 a.m. The person who made the 911 call, a zoo representative, said they received the threat “through electronic means,” deputies said.
The zoo was evacuated and will remained closed until further notice, investigators said.
