Bomb squad detonates ‘possibly hazardous device’ at northwest Charlotte home

CHARLOTTE — The bomb squad was called to a northwest Charlotte home Wednesday afternoon after “the discovery of an old, possibly hazardous device,” police said.
Authorities responded to Northwoods Forest Drive, which is in a neighborhood off Mount Holly-Huntersville Road.
Chopper 9 Skyzoom flew over the home when police blew up what appeared to be a bin in the front yard.

“The CMPD Bomb Squad collected the devices and performed a controlled detonation on the scene,” the police department said in an update. “This controlled detonation utilizes sophisticated training and equipment to render potentially hazardous devices safe in the field.”
There are no longer any active devices related to this incident.
