Boil water advisory lifted for town of Boone after water main break

Boil water advisory

BOONE, N.C. — A boil water advisory issued Wednesday morning for the town of Boone was lifted Thursday morning.

Town officials said the advisory was due to a water main break that happened around 3 a.m. on King Street near the Earth Fare grocery store. The rupture caused a water system pressure loss throughout the town.

The Town of Boone Public Works Department said Ricky L. Miller Water Treatment Facility staff completed the required testing throughout the water system and did not find any safety concerns.

The leak was repaired late Wednesday evening and testing continued Thursday morning. Residents can now use the town water for any purpose.

Water customers may continue to hear banging in the pipes and see cloudy water, officials said, but residents should not be alarmed as the water should clear up within minutes.

Officials have not said what caused the water main to break.
