CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Swarms of bees, who breed in the spring, have been seen in the Charlotte area.
Flowers in Charlotte draw them in, and some are invading places like Madison Park. Nectar and pollen are available in the flowers during warm temperatures.
Experts said residents shouldn't kill the bees because they are important in the ecosystem.
Instead, beekeepers collect them and take them to a colony.
There can be up to 2,000 honeybees in a keeper’s colony.
There, bees gather nectar, which they will use for food.
Experts advised calling a beekeeper rather than being alarmed by the swarms.
