Investigators said the robber wore a black wig and demanded money from the teller before he walked out with the cash from a BB&T branch.
That M.O. is very similar to past bank robberies in the Charlotte area.
The “Bad Wig Bandit” first hit the BB&T on Northcross Drive in Huntersville on Dec. 13 wearing a blonde wig and high heels.
The FBI said he robbed the New Horizon bank on Wilkinson Boulevard in Belmont about a month later, wearing a red wig.
He then robbed the Wells Fargo on Cox Road in Gastonia, this time wearing a curlier style wig.
In all three instances, the robber slipped a teller a note demanding money, at times threatening a weapon.
The FBI is asking for help identifying the man.
