LINCOLNTON, N.C. — Police are looking for information nearly five months after a Lincoln County rest home resident walked away from the facility and disappeared.
Richard Perdue, 53, was last seen leaving through a side door at the Boger City Rest Home on Little Valley Trail in Lincolnton around 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 22.
He was reported missing two hours later by the rest home staff. Deputies searched the area but could not find Perdue. A few days later, the Lincoln County Special Operations Land Search Team, deputies, detectives, and a drone searched a 300-meter diameter around the Boger City Rest Home.
That search also did not turn up anything.
Perdue is a white man with black hair and blue eyes. He is 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 135 pounds.
Authorities said Perdue suffers from several medical conditions, including autism spectrum disorder and schizophrenia. He does not have relatives in North Carolina and is not familiar with the area.
Anyone with information about Perdue’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office at 704-732-9050.
