18-year-old arrested after loaded gun found in car at Chester High School

CHESTER, S.C. — Authorities arrested Jamichael Montrell Hicks, 18, on Tuesday after he allegedly had a loaded gun in his vehicle at Chester High School. He was arrested and the school resource officer found an ammunition magazine in a restroom.

“There is no immediate danger to students at this time,” the Chester County Sheriff’s Office said early afternoon.

More deputies were called to the scene to keep the school safe.

Parents have been contacted. By early afternoon, officials said the hold was lifted and dismissal would be on time.

The Chester County Sheriff’s Office announced mid-afternoon that Hicks was arrested for carrying a weapon on school grounds after a loaded firearm was located in his vehicle.

No additional details have been made available.
