TROUTMAN, N.C. — Attorneys for the man accused of shooting and killing his estranged wife's long-term boyfriend said he did not mean to do it.
Court documents reveal new details to what happened the night of the murder.

Jeffrey Gillespie was led into court Thursday morning with his hands and feet in shackles.
Next to him was his attorney from Charlotte, who said he did not intentionally kill Bobby Swedlund, 25.
For the last three years, Swedlund has been dating Gillespie's estranged wife.
Swedlund and Gillespie met early Tuesday morning in the parking lot of the Troutman Animal Hospital where Swedlund was shot and killed.
According to the court documents, Gillespie called his estranged wife and told her he had shot her boyfriend and he was dead.
She told deputies, earlier that night, she told her boyfriend to come home and not meet with Gillespie.
