CHARLOTTE — Atrium Health is planning to recognize health care workers on the two-year mark of the COVID-19 pandemic declaration.

On Friday morning, local first responders will lead a parade of vehicles flashing their emergency lights through the campus of Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center.

“Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, health care workers have worked tirelessly to care for patients, persevering to levels no one could have ever imagined,” Atrium said in a statement. “This parade is a way to not only show a united front between health care and frontline workers, but also a way to honor the hard work of each Atrium Health teammate.”

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Charlotte Fire Department, Mecklenburg Emergency Medical Services Agency (MEDIC), Matthews Police Department, Cornelius Police Department and Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office will all be part of the event, Atrium said.

Atrium will have similar events at eight of its other facilities across the Southeast, with participation from each facility’s local first responders.
