CHARLOTTE — Atrium Health is increasing its minimum wage to start the new year.
The Charlotte-based health-care system’s minimum hourly pay rate will rise about 6%, to $18.50 per hour, on Jan. 12, according to a news release from Atrium.
The increase will impact Atrium employees in North Carolina and South Carolina. Currently, employees earning minimum wage make $17.50 per hour. The federal minimum wage is $7.25 per hour.
The minimum wage increase is part of a $764 million investment Advocate Health is making into its compensation program across the entire health-care system.
