CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Atrium Health has finalized its latest “strategic combination,” bringing Floyd Health of Georgia into the fold, according to a press release yesterday. The agreement between the two health systems was first announced in November 2019, but progress was slowed by the Covid-19 pandemic. Final approval was granted this week by Georgia’s attorney general.
Charlotte-based Atrium has pledged to invest $650 million over the next decade to enhance Floyd’s capabilities, talent, facilities and technology. It will also establish a foundation aimed at combating health disparities in the area.
“This is a historical milestone in the history of both of our organizations,” said Gene Woods, CEO of Atrium, in the release. “We look forward to making significant investments in the health of the communities served by Floyd.”
