Arrest warrants taken out against Gaston County commissioner for sexual battery

Authorities have taken out arrest warrants against a Gaston County commissioner, accused of assault on a female and sexual battery.
Commissioner Don Grant told Channel 9’s news partner the Gaston Gazette that he will turn himself in at the Gaston County courthouse on Monday when he returns from a business trip.
Grant was elected to the Gaston County Commission in 2016 and runs a family business on West Franklin Street in Gastonia.

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — (Don Grant)

Grant told Channel 9 he strongly denies the charge that he sexually assaulted a woman who is a customer of his extermination business.
Grant told the Gaston Gazette that a woman customer called to complain about bedbugs in her home on June 13 and that when he went out to investigate, he did not find any bedbugs but he checked her arms and back for bites.
Grant said there was nothing sexual, but the woman filed a complaint and the State Bureau of Investigations looked into the allegation.
District Attorney Locke Bell confirmed that his office filed warrants Friday, charging Grant with sexual battery and assault on a female. Both charges are misdemeanor offenses.
