Arrest made in Albemarle armed robbery, police say

ALBEMARLE, N.C. — The Albemarle Police Department has arrested a man in connection with an armed robbery Thursday afternoon.

It occurred just after 3 p.m. at a tobacco and vape shop on Highway 52.

Police said 43-year-old Michael Daniel Cochrane flashed a gun to an employee in that business before leaving with an unknown amount of money.

Cochrane was eventually arrested following a brief chase.

He has been charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, fleeing in a motor vehicle to elude arrest, and larceny of a motor vehicle.
