Arrest made after teenager shot to death in Kings Mountain

KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. — Police have arrested a man they said shot and killed a teenager Wednesday night in Kings Mountain.

Around 7:15 p.m., police were called to Redwood Circle in reference to a shooting. When they got to the scene, officers found a 17-year-old boy who had been shot several times.

The teen was taken to CaroMount Medical Center in Gastonia where he was pronounce dead. His name is not being released due to his age, police said.

Investigators arrested 20-year-old Richard Emory Darnell Brown Jr. and charged him with murder. He was being held at the Gaston County Detention Center under no bond.

Police have not released any other details surrounding the shooting, which is still under investigation.
