GASTONIA, N.C. — Police are searching for two suspects after a man was killed in a shooting in Gaston County late Thursday night.
Gastonia Police said 26-year-old Rickie Hooper Jr. and 21-year-old Christopher Hooper have been charged with first-degree murder and warrants have been issued for their arrest.

The shooting happened just before midnight along South New Hope Road.
Officers said they responded to the area after getting reports of shots fired into an “occupied dwelling.”
The victim, 38-year-old John Bryant Jr., was taken to CaroMont Regional Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the leg and was listed in critical condition. He later died from his injuries.

The shooting happened after an altercation with someone in a white Honda Accord, according to Gastonia police. No arrests have been made.
