A suspect from a Randolph County homicide has been found after police officers asked for help from the public.
The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Apprehension Team found Brian Cody King, 25, at a hotel in Cornelius on Sunday, according to deputies.
The sheriff’s office said a 74-year-old man was found stabbed to death in Asheboro Saturday morning. Deputies believe that King is responsible for the murder and took a warrant out for his arrest.
King is the grandson of the victim, Harold King, deputies say.
King was driving a stolen red 2000 Chevrolet Silverado, which was found in Mooresville’s Edgemoor Park neighborhood Saturday morning. Mooresville police officers, including K-9s and drones, searched the area around the truck but were unable to find King.
He was considered armed and dangerous.
Once he was transported back to Randolph County, he was served with the warrant for felony murder. During his booking, deputies found methamphetamine in his possession.
The magistrate found probable cause for additional charges of felony possession of methamphetamine and felony possession of a controlled substance prison/jail premises.
