KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — Eight residents were displaced because of an apartment fire in Kannapolis.
The fire department was called to the Cabarrus Arms Apartments at about 8 p.m. Monday.
The fire, which was on the first floor, was extinguished.
The other seven units in the building were damaged by smoke.

No injuries were reported.
The American Red Cross is assisting the families. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
