Fresh off the completion of a nine-gate expansion of Concourse A at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, more terminal upgrades are next.
The terminal enhancements at Concourse A will include new ceiling tiles, carpet in seating areas, wall paneling, a fresh coat of paint and updated seating with integrated power and USB ports. Other features, such as terrazzo flooring in the center walkway allowing passengers to more easily roll their luggage as well as restroom, electrical and mechanical upgrades, also will be added in this phase.
Work was expected to start Monday and will continue for a year before completion. CLT officials say that airport operations will continue as normal during the renovation, with much of the work occurring overnight from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
The project is the latest in the airport’s ongoing $2.5 billion, 10-year makeover and expansion project, known as Destination CLT. It kicked off in 2015.
