American stopped flying to the coastal town of Samana in the Dominican Republic from Charlotte Douglas in March, moving that route to Miami International Airport as a way to better serve that area, said Brian Metham, a spokesman for the Fort Worth, Texas-based carrier. It had operated that route at Charlotte Douglas throughout 2021 and early this year.

American currently has three other nonstop routes to the Dominican Republic at CLT — Puerto Plata, Punta Cana and Santo Domingo. The airline said it will fly to five destinations in Mexico, 22 in the Caribbean and three in Latin America from CLT this summer.
