American Airlines putting European route on hold at CLT

CHARLOTTE — One of two nonstop flights to Germany that American Airlines operates from Charlotte Douglas International Airport will be temporarily suspended this summer.

American’s daily flight from Charlotte to Frankfurt Airport will be put on hold from June 3 to Sept. 6, a spokesman with the Fort Worth, Texas-based carrier told CBJ today.

“We continually evaluate American’s network to ensure we maximize our fleet while matching customer demand. As part of that ongoing process, we are suspending service between Charlotte (CLT) and Frankfurt, Germany (FRA), from June 3 to Sept. 6,” spokesman Andrew Trull said in an emailed statement.
