CHARLOTTE — American Airlines has unveiled a new Caribbean destination set to launch this summer at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

The airline announced Monday that it intends to begin nonstop service between CLT and Samana, Dominican Republic, on June 5. That seasonal route will operate twice a week — on Wednesdays and Saturdays — through Aug. 14, and is expected to return again in the winter.
